‘It’s Now Or Never’: Actor Tells ‘Terrified’ Conservatives In Hollywood To Not Hold Back Support For Trump

Actor and singer Zachary Levi sent a message to “closeted” conservatives in Hollywood Monday that it is “now or never” for them to publicly express their true political views and support for Republican nominee Donald Trump.

“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said during an Oct. 1 segment that Levi’s previous claim that Hollywood is a “very liberal town” is “B.S.,” naming actors Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid as examples of “working Republicans in the industry.” Levi, in response to Goldberg, argued in an Instagram story that “closed Trump voters” in Hollywood should not allow their fears of “ramifications” hold them back from supporting Trump since the industry “will not exist very soon.”

“There’s plenty, and they’ve sent me lots of messages, plenty of people in my industry, in Hollywood, that are terrified to publicly say that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi said. “That’s why you don’t see them, that’s why they’re not very prevalent or prominent because they know that there’s ramifications for this kind of shit. But like I said, y’all, our industry gonna be fuckin gonzo, it already is. We’re getting eroded, the pandemic and the strikes and all of these things, they’ve already eroded so much. So, anyway, my cry to all of you out there, you closeted conservatives, closeted Trump voters, it’s now or never.”

“Do whatever you feel like you need to do. If you need to come out publicly and say it, if you still can’t, then don’t. I would never pressure you to do that. But know that, if what you’re afraid of is somehow the backlash of an industry that’s not going to exist very soon, then don’t let that hold you back,” Levi continued.

The “Shazam!” actor said that Hollywood likely had more of a political balance in the past, but nowadays a star has to be “at a certain level in [their] career” in order to publicly express any conservative opinion.

“To Whoopi’s point, back in the day there may have been more of a balance,” Levi said. “And there have always been more conservative-leaning stars that have been able to say those things. But you really have to be at a certain level of your career in order to get away with it, number one. But number two, that was also back then. And I think naming just Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid, and really could only name Jon Voight, Whoopi, someone else had to help you with Dennis Quaid, of the thousands of actors in Hollywood, that you could only name two, I think actually speaks to that.”

Levi endorsed Trump during a Sept. 28 rally in Michigan before introducing former presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to the stage. The actor said he grew up in a  Christian conservative family that taught him to have “a healthy level of distrust for the government” and for an “industry that runs amok.”
