Ransomware: A Threat Like 9/11
Recent ransomware attacks on Colonial Pipeline and meat processor JBS drew widespread attention to their potential for disruption.
The latest IBD/TIPP Poll completed in early October had a few shocking findings:
- Two out of three Americans (67%) are concerned about ransomware attacks.
- One in five (21%) has experienced a ransomware attack in the past year.
- Nearly one-half (44%) of ransomware victims or their companies paid the ransom.
Ransomware is a type of malicious software, or malware, that prevents you from accessing your computer files, systems, or networks and demands a ransom payment. Ransomware attacks can result in costly operational disruptions as well as the loss of critical information and data.
