Federal authorities have arrested two men in connection with an explosion at Harvard Medical School over the weekend, the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and Harvard University Police Department confirmed Tuesday.

The early Saturday blast occurred in the Goldenson building around 3 a.m. ET. Security footage showed two masked suspects fleeing the scene moments after a fire alarm was triggered, officials said.

The explosion appeared to be intentional, but no injuries or structural damage were reported.

Harvard officials said the affected area has been cleared and all labs and equipment remain intact. The U.S. Attorney’s Office is expected to provide more details at a press conference in Boston later today.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions at Harvard, which has been under national scrutiny during ongoing negotiations with the White House over restoring federal funding and resolving lawsuits related to recent higher education reforms.
