The White House is lashing out at Amazon after the retailer announced it will begin including the cost of tariffs on product price tags. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called the move “a hostile and political act,” and said she had spoken directly with Donald Trump about it.

Leavitt questioned why Amazon didn’t make similar pricing disclosures during what she called “Biden’s inflation crisis,” adding: “Amazon has partnered with a Chinese propaganda arm. This is another reason why Americans should buy American and onshore critical supply chains.”

When asked if Jeff Bezos remains a Trump supporter, Leavitt declined to comment. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent backed the administration’s stance, noting that bringing down “Biden inflation” is a key Trump priority.
