AI Firms Fund $125 Million Campaign For Federal Regulation

A new political action committee backed by major artificial intelligence players raised $125 million in 2025 to support candidates favoring national AI regulations, according to the group.

The super PAC, Leading the Future, said it ended the year with $70 million in cash after launching last summer.

The group is pushing back against state-level AI laws, arguing that a patchwork of regulations could slow innovation and weaken U.S. competitiveness. Its leaders said federal oversight is critical for economic growth and national security.

The PAC has already entered congressional races, opposing New York Democrat Alex Bores, who backed a state AI law, and supporting Texas Republican Chris Gober. The organization says it will support candidates from both parties.

Leading the Future is linked to advocacy group Build American AI, which launched a $10 million campaign for national policy. Major donors include Andreessen Horowitz, Greg Brockman, and Joe Lonsdale.
