Alphabet On Cusp Of Becoming World’s Biggest Company

The days of Nvidia being the biggest company in the world may be numbered as Alphabet – the parent company of Google – looks set to knock it off the top thanks to its wide business portfolio.

Alphabet is rapidly closing in on Nvidia to become the world’s most valuable company, driven by a sharp rally in its stock and growing strength across the AI industry.

Alphabet shares have surged 43% since October 2025, including a 34% jump in April – the company’s best month since 2004. Over the same period, Nvidia stock has risen just 6.3%, lagging behind both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100.

Six months ago, Nvidia’s market value stood at $4.9 trillion, compared with Alphabet’s $3.4 trillion. The gap has since narrowed significantly.

While Nvidia remains dominant in AI chips, Alphabet is gaining momentum through its expanding AI ecosystem, including Google Search, Google Cloud, YouTube, Waymo and its Gemini AI model. The company is also a major investor in Anthropic, the developer of the Claude AI model.
