White House deputy national security adviser Andy Baker is preparing to leave the Trump administration after about 18 months in a senior national security role.
According to the report, Baker is expected to depart in the coming weeks after playing a key role in national security and foreign policy decisions.
Baker, a former State Department foreign service officer, had originally planned to leave earlier but remained to assist with the administration's transition.
According to the report, Cliff Sims and Mike Needham have since taken on national security responsibilities previously handled by Baker.
Vance described Baker as an exceptionally talented and indispensable member of his team, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio called him an invaluable asset.
His departure is the latest change involving the administration's senior personnel as the White House undergoes a broader reshuffling of its national security and policy teams.
