Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone, Starting at $1,999

Apple has unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable smartphone, marking the company’s entry into a market led by Samsung and Huawei.

The book-style device features a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch outer screen.

Apple CEO John Ternus, who took over from Tim Cook on September 1, introduced the device at the company’s “Surprise and Shine” event in Cupertino.

Apple is positioning the Duo and iPhone 18 Pro lineup as platforms for expanded onboard artificial intelligence features, including new Siri capabilities expected in October.

IDC analysts estimate Apple could capture 28% of global foldable smartphone shipments during its first year.

However, investors remain cautious about potential supply constraints and whether the new device will generate a significant upgrade cycle.
