Apple on Monday announced the iPhone 17e, a lower priced version of its flagship device, as the company looks to sustain strong iPhone sales amid rising competition in artificial intelligence. The phone starts at $599 and will launch on March 11.
The iPhone 17e uses the same processor as the iPhone 17 but features a smaller display, a single camera, and removes the Dynamic Island. Apple has increasingly updated its budget lineup after strong demand for last year’s iPhone 16e, signaling growing consumer interest in cheaper models.

iPhone sales helped ease Wall Street concerns over Apple’s AI position, with record upgrades and strong growth from Android switchers in late 2025. CEO Tim Cook said demand was “staggering.”
The iPhone 17e may also expand adoption of Apple Intelligence, though the broader smartphone market faces declining shipments and memory shortages tied to AI.
