Arson Attacks By Israeli Settlers In The West Bank Surge Amid Olive Harvest Season

Dozens of Israeli settlers carried out an arson attack Tuesday in the West Bank town of Beit Lid, torching trucks, tents, and parts of the Deir Sharaf Bedouin village and Al-Juneidi dairy factory.

Videos show heavy smoke, smashed vehicles, and Palestinians scrambling to extinguish the flames.

The incident is part of a sharp rise in settler violence, with the United Nations reporting at least 264 attacks in October, the highest level since tracking began in 2006.

The Israel Defense Forces called the attackers “anarchist fringe youth” and said such violence diverts troops from essential security and counterterrorism duties.

Four Palestinians were injured during the assault, and Israel Police said they arrested four suspects.

The violence comes during the olive harvest season, which has seen repeated clashes.

Activists and residents say soldiers often fail to stop assaults. Several Israelis assisting Palestinian farmers were also beaten and hospitalized.
