The suspected shooter at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis is dead, law enforcement officials confirmed Wednesday.
Authorities said the situation has been contained and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz confirmed that state police, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the State Patrol are at the scene.

He called the incident a “horrific act of violence” and asked for prayers for students and teachers.
The shooting comes during the first week of school for the K-8 Catholic institution. FBI agents also responded, and Hennepin Healthcare confirmed it was handling an emergency.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said the city’s emergency response team had been activated to address the situation.
