The BBC board held an unscheduled meeting Wednesday to discuss President Donald Trump’s $1 billion legal threat over an editing error in a 2024 documentary about him, CNN reported.
The meeting came as the broadcaster faces internal turmoil following the resignation of two senior executives and growing pressure from British media and lawmakers.

Trump’s lawyers claim the BBC’s “Panorama” documentary caused him “overwhelming financial and reputational harm” and have demanded a full retraction by Friday, warning that “the BBC is on notice.”
Media experts, however, say Trump may struggle to sue in the U.S. due to jurisdiction issues.
The broadcaster has declined to comment publicly but said it is “reviewing the letter and will respond in due course.”
The controversy has reignited debate in Britain about press freedom, political pressure, and the BBC’s ability to stand firm against Trump, who has used legal threats to secure concessions from other media outlets.
