Beijing has slammed the Trump administration's decision to “aggressively” revoke visas of Chinese students, calling the move politically motivated and discriminatory.
The US decision to revoke Chinese student visas is fully unjustified. Citing ideology and national security as a pretext, the move seriously hurts the lawful rights and interests of international students from China and disrupts people-to-people exchanges between the two… pic.twitter.com/skCNEZtPId

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on X that the “move exposes the hypocrisy behind the U.S.’s claims of freedom and openness,” Lin said. “It will further damage the image and reputation of the U.S. itself.”
The remarks come after Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced sweeping visa restrictions targeting foreign nationals allegedly involved in censoring Americans or threatening national security.
The U.S. will begin revoking visas of Chinese students, including those with connections to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in critical fields.

The Chinese government said it has officially protested to Washington over the move, which it says undermines people-to-people ties between the two nations.
