President Joe Biden’s former White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, refused to answer questions Wednesday during a closed-door interview with the House Oversight Committee, invoking his Fifth Amendment rights.
The committee, led by Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), is investigating Biden’s mental and physical fitness, claiming some policies under his term may be illegitimate due to possible incapacity.

O’Connor’s attorney said the doctor had “no choice” but to plead the Fifth due to patient privacy concerns and a Justice Department probe into Biden’s use of the autopen.
Comer called the refusal “clear” evidence of a cover-up. Democrats dismissed the probe as a partisan distraction.
The committee has subpoenaed several former Biden aides and plans to release a full report once the investigation concludes. The Trump administration has waived executive privilege for staff requested to testify, broadening the scope of the inquiry. Biden has called allegations about his mental fitness “ridiculous.”
