Former President Bill Clinton told lawmakers he did nothing wrong in his past association with Jeffrey Epstein and said he never witnessed signs of sexual abuse. Clinton made the statement during a closed-door deposition before the House Oversight Committee, marking the first time a former president has been compelled to testify under subpoena.
Clinton acknowledged a relationship with Epstein more than two decades ago but said he ended contact well before Epstein’s criminal conduct became public. He said he does not recall many details due to the passage of time and insisted he was unaware of Epstein’s crimes.
As someone who grew up in a home with domestic abuse, not only would I not have flown on his plane if I had any inkling of what he was doing—I would have turned him in myself and led the call for justice for his crimes, not sweetheart deals. pic.twitter.com/0rX8cat5Pu

Committee Chairman James Comer said the testimony reflects growing demands for accountability among powerful figures. Clinton criticized Republicans for calling Hillary Clinton to testify, calling it unfair.
Democrats argue the precedent should apply to President Donald Trump, who has denied wrongdoing. Comer said Trump has already addressed questions publicly.
