The report said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement appears aimed at easing mounting pressure from Washington and European allies, who want Lebanon included in the broader U.S.-Iran ceasefire framework.

Israel has appointed its ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, to lead a delegation for talks expected to be hosted by the U.S. State Department. However, it remains unclear whether discussions will move beyond a technical level.

Israel’s continued military operations suggest limited urgency to advance talks, even as international pressure grows. The situation highlights the fragile state of regional diplomacy despite President Donald Trump’s push for broader stability.
