The storm unleashed lake-effect snow across Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan, with totals exceeding 12 inches in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and up to 10 inches in northwest Indiana.
South of Chicago, hazardous travel conditions were reported along Interstate 57, while Cook County was downgraded to a winter weather advisory as snowfall eased downtown.

The Arctic air mass is expected to send temperatures below freezing as far south as Texas and Florida, with cities like Atlanta and Baton Rouge seeing dramatic drops of 30 to 40 degrees in just one day.
Washington, D.C. and New York City will also see their coldest mornings since spring, though forecasters say a midweek warm-up is on the way.
