Britain’s King Charles III will visit the United States in late April for his first official state trip as monarch, Buckingham Palace confirmed, according to CBS News.
The visit will mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence and highlight longstanding ties between the U.S. and the United Kingdom.
The report said Charles has previously visited the U.S. multiple times as Prince of Wales, but this will be his first visit since ascending the throne. The trip follows President Donald Trump’s recent state visit to the U.K.

The visit comes amid strained relations, with Trump criticizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer over the U.K.’s limited role in the Iran conflict. Britain has allowed U.S. use of its bases for defensive operations.
The report also noted ongoing controversies in the U.K. linked to the Jeffrey Epstein case involving senior figures. After the U.S. trip, King Charles is expected to travel to Bermuda.
