President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to criticize the Congressional Budget Office’s (CBO) latest economic growth projections, calling them “ridiculous and unpatriotic.”
Trump accused the “Democrat inspired and controlled” CBO of deliberately underestimating growth, citing their forecast of just 1.8% over the next 10 years. He recalled a similar lowball in 2017, which he said his administration more than doubled.
“The information they recently released is even more absurd and indefensible,” Trump wrote. He predicted the economy would grow three to five times the CBO’s estimate, with a “minimum expected 3% growth” offsetting the cost of his tax cuts.
