China has voiced support for Venezuela as President Donald Trump intensifies pressure on the Maduro government, including calls for a blockade of sanctioned Venezuelan oil shipments.
Beijing said it backs Venezuela’s request for a United Nations Security Council meeting and opposes what it described as unilateral pressure tactics.

A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Beijing supports Caracas in defending its sovereignty and legitimate interests.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi echoed that position, telling his Venezuelan counterpart that China rejects what it calls international bullying.
China is a key buyer of Venezuelan crude. Trade data shows most of Venezuela’s recent oil exports have gone to China, though analysts say any supply disruption would not affect Chinese imports until early 2026.

Venezuela accounts for about 4 percent of China’s oil imports.
Trump has accused the Maduro government of using oil revenues to fund criminal activity and confirmed a major US military buildup in the region.
Caracas has condemned the actions as warmongering. The dispute comes as US-China relations show signs of cautious improvement.
