The album features English-language reflections set to original music and was accepted on his behalf by musician Rufus Wainwright.
In a statement shared online, the Dalai Lama said he accepted the award with humility and hoped it would help spread messages of compassion and peace.
The recognition comes as questions over his succession grow more urgent. He has stated that his successor would be born outside China.
China’s Foreign Ministry condemned the award, calling it political manipulation, according to state media. Beijing continues to label the Dalai Lama a separatist, despite his long-standing calls for dialogue.
