Chinese Premier Li Qiang and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung voiced strong support for free trade and multilateral cooperation during talks in Beijing, as both sides seek to deepen economic ties, according to official Chinese statements.

Li said China is ready to expand cooperation with South Korea in high-end manufacturing, new energy, and artificial intelligence, while widening market access and strengthening political trust.

He called on both countries to jointly uphold free trade and contribute to regional and global stability.

Lee said the China–South Korea strategic partnership is essential for peace in northeast Asia and urged broader, mutually beneficial cooperation during a period of global uncertainty. He also backed closer multilateral coordination with Beijing.

The meeting followed a recent summit between Lee and Xi Jinping, where both leaders agreed on the need for dialogue with North Korea, despite lingering differences over security issues.

Lee’s visit aims to deliver concrete gains in trade, diplomacy, and regional cooperation.
