China has called for calm and urged all sides to ensure the Strait of Hormuz remains open, warning that disruptions threaten global trade and energy flows, as reported by officials in Beijing.

Foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said the waterway is critical for international commerce and stressed that a ceasefire in the Iran conflict is the only viable path to restoring stability. According to the statement, China is prepared to play a constructive diplomatic role in easing tensions.

The remarks came after President Donald Trump announced a U.S. naval blockade targeting Iranian ports following failed talks in Pakistan. U.S. Central Command confirmed enforcement measures, while Iran claimed it retains full control of the strait.

Both Washington and Tehran blamed each other for the breakdown in negotiations, the report said.

China also denied allegations that it plans to supply weapons to Iran, reiterating its commitment to strict export controls and regional stability.
