President Donald Trump shared on Truth Social that China is eager to reach a trade deal with the United States, but is unsure how to initiate negotiations. Trump emphasized that while many countries, including South Korea, are actively pursuing agreements, China has yet to make the first move. He expressed confidence that a deal would eventually take place, adding that he is "waiting for their call." Trump's comments suggest that China’s interest in a deal with the U.S. is high, despite the retaliatory efforts.

Previously, China’s Commerce Ministry had strongly opposed U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to impose additional 50% tariffs on Chinese imports. “The U.S. threat to escalate tariffs on China is a mistake on top of a mistake,” the statement said. According to a translation, it also added, “China will never accept it. If the U.S. insists on its own way, China will fight to the end.”
