Data Theft Is On The Rise As More Americans Believe The Federal Government Is Responsible For Cybersecurity

Data theft has increased over the past year.  According to the latest Investor's Business Daily/TIPP Poll, 38% of Americans have had their personal information stolen or compromised by hackers or cybercriminals in the last 12 months.

In a TIPP Poll conducted in September 2020, this figure was 26%.  So, it has risen by a whopping 12 points in the last year.

All eight personal data categories in our survey showed an increase.

The biggest increases are in social media account information (6-points), bank account information (+5-points), social security numbers (5-points), and medical information (5-points).
