Democratic Senate candidates are attracting notable support from Republican voters in several competitive 2026 races, according to a CNN review of recent polling.
New York Times-Siena College surveys found between 9% and 16% of Republican likely voters backing Democrats in Alaska, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio and Texas. Democrats have also led among GOP voters by double digits in four key Senate contests.
Democrats are also winning substantial support from Republicans in Iowa, Alaska and Georgia. Recent Fox News polling showed several Democratic candidates receiving more than 20% support from non-MAGA Republicans.
However, the findings come with a major caveat. Polls have sometimes underestimated Republican support, particularly among Trump’s strongest supporters. If that pattern returns, GOP candidates could perform better than current surveys indicate.
The 2022 midterms did not show the same polling pattern.
