Top congressional Democrats are reviewing a 181-page dossier identifying hundreds of companies and executives for potential investigations when the party takes control of Congress next year, The Washington Sun reported.
Prepared by the Groundwork Collaborative, the document recommends aggressive oversight of corporations accused of contributing to rising living costs through alleged price gouging.
However, the strategy has exposed divisions within the Democratic Party. Incoming House Judiciary Chair Jamie Raskin cautioned against investigations becoming politically motivated vendettas, insisting his office was not targeting specific corporations. With 48 per cent of voters identifying the cost of living as their top concern, Democrats are considering summoning corporate executives to Congress as early as January to explain their pricing practices.
