The Department of Homeland Security has increased its cash incentive for undocumented migrants who voluntarily leave the United States, raising the payment from $1,000 to $3,000 for departures completed by December 31, 2025.
Eligible participants must register through the CBP Home app, confirm their intent to depart, and leave the country with government verification.
DHS says those who qualify will also receive free airfare to their home countries and relief from certain civil penalties tied to illegal presence.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem warned that migrants who do not participate will face arrest and permanent removal.
The Trump administration says the program lowers costs for taxpayers, noting that traditional detention and deportation can average about $17,000 per case.

DHS claims nearly 1.9 million undocumented migrants have self-deported since January 2025, though those figures have not been independently verified.
