Dhillon posted footage of the protest on X, calling demonstrators “violent thugs” and criticizing campus security for allowing what she described as “Antifa’s ability to operate with impunity.” She confirmed that the Civil Rights Division will review how Berkeley and local authorities handled the unrest.
Four people were arrested after hundreds gathered outside Zellerbach Hall on Nov. 10, holding signs denouncing Turning Point, President Trump, and conservatism. The protest came two months after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a Utah event.
Berkeley officials said they had not yet been contacted by the DOJ. Dhillon compared the incident to the 2017 campus riot over right-wing speakers.
