More than 690,000 Americans have already voted across at least 29 states, with early ballot data showing Democrats accounting for a larger share of requests in several key states, according to CNN.
Democrats represent 67% of ballot requests in Iowa, 66% in Pennsylvania, 57% in Maine and 42% in North Carolina. Those shares are higher than at comparable points in 2024, although they remain below 2022 levels in most of those states.
However, CNN cautioned that early voting does not indicate how ballots will be cast. Ballots remain secret, and Republican voters could participate more heavily closer to Election Day.
The data also skews older and currently consists largely of mail voting, which has historically attracted more Democratic voters than in-person early voting.
