Early Voting Starts Across US As Voters Weigh Economy, Iran War

Early voting for the 2026 US midterm elections begins Friday, starting six weeks of voting ahead of the November 3 election that will determine control of Congress.

Virginia is the first state to begin in-person early voting, while voters in states including Idaho, Minnesota and South Dakota can cast absentee ballots in person. More states will open early voting in the coming weeks.

According to the report, Trump has sought greater federal influence over election administration while challenging some voting procedures.

The Supreme Court rejected his attempt to restrict mail ballots this week. His administration has also pursued efforts involving voter rolls and alleged noncitizen voting, despite research finding such voting to be rare.

Election officials say they remain confident the process will be secure and accurate.
