Jeffrey Epstein’s former defense attorney David Schoen pushed back Thursday against Elon Musk’s explosive claim that President Donald Trump is named in unreleased Justice Department files related to the late financier.

Schoen, who began representing Epstein nine days before his death in 2019, posted on X: “I can say authoritatively, unequivocally, and definitively that he had no information to hurt President Trump. I specifically asked him!”

The statement comes amid a growing rift between Trump and Musk. The Tesla CEO alleged earlier that Trump is named in the Epstein files and that this is the reason the documents have not been made public.

Tensions between the two men flared after Musk criticized the president’s sweeping tax and spending bill. Trump responded by expressing “disappointment” in Musk, who previously led his Department of Government Efficiency.

Epstein died by apparent suicide while awaiting trial for sex trafficking in 2019, as confirmed by FBI Chief Kash Patel.
