Top EU ministers will meet in Lviv, Ukraine, on December 10–11 to assess the country’s progress toward European Union membership, the Kyiv Independent reported.
The informal meeting, organized by the Danish Presidency of the EU Council and Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Taras Kachka, is meant to show unified political backing for Ukraine’s bid.

Despite the ongoing war with Russia, Kyiv has made significant reform progress to align with EU governance and legal standards since applying for membership in 2022.
However, Hungary remains a key obstacle, repeatedly threatening to block accession talks.
Nearly all other EU states support starting negotiations, which require unanimous approval from all 27 members. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the bloc is preparing “plan B and plan C” if Hungary maintains its opposition.
