EU Transfers €3.47 Billion To Ukraine For Defense Purchases

The European Commission has transferred €3.47 billion to Ukraine under the European Union's defense support program, according to the Commission.

The latest funding is intended to help Ukraine procure drones, missiles and Saab Gripen fighter jets, bringing total defense-related disbursements under the initiative to €8.5 billion.

Of the total funding, €60 billion has been allocated to strengthen defense industrial capacity, while €30 billion is designated for Ukraine's budget in 2026 and 2027.

According to Budget spokesman Balazs Ujvari, total disbursements have now reached €11.7 billion, with additional transfers expected in the coming weeks.

The announcement came as Russian air strikes reportedly killed eight people across Ukraine.
