An FBI team has traveled to Cuba to investigate a deadly February incident involving a Florida-based speedboat and Cuban security forces, reported by CNN.
The rare cooperation comes despite heightened tensions between Washington and Havana under President Donald Trump.
According to Cuban officials, the boat carried 10 individuals allegedly attempting to overthrow the government. A shootout with border guards left five of the boaters dead and one Cuban soldier injured. Authorities said weapons and explosives were recovered from the vessel.

The report said at least one deceased individual and one survivor were U.S. citizens. Five survivors are now facing terrorism charges in Cuba. Cuban authorities initially described all suspects as nationals, reflecting the country’s stance on dual citizenship.
According to CNN, U.S. officials emphasized that FBI investigators will independently verify facts. The case raises concerns over American citizens abroad and could further strain already fragile U.S.-Cuba relations.
