Former CIA Director David Petraeus has warned that the United States must adopt a “whole new concept of warfare” based on lessons from Ukraine, reported by CBS News. According to Petraeus, Ukraine has gained an edge against Russia despite fewer resources by integrating drones with advanced command systems.
The report said Ukraine’s battlefield advantage comes from combining surveillance, targeting and strike capabilities through digital platforms, allowing near real-time tracking of enemy forces. Petraeus noted that low-cost drone production has scaled rapidly, far exceeding U.S. output.

He warned that future warfare will increasingly rely on artificial intelligence, including autonomous drones that cannot be easily jammed. According to the report, such systems could soon allow operators to control multiple drones simultaneously.
Petraeus argued that Western militaries must rethink traditional structures and prioritize unmanned systems. He also cautioned that drone technology could increase security risks, including potential use in large-scale coordinated attacks.
