French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff to the Élysée Palace today. Joined by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, it is said to be a high-stakes diplomatic effort to advance a ceasefire in Ukraine. Prior to the meeting, Macron spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, underscoring France’s continued coordination with Kyiv.
The talks come shortly after Witkoff’s recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, as pressure mounts on Moscow to agree to peace terms. Top Ukrainian officials are also in Paris for parallel discussions with European and American counterparts.
