President Donald Trump arrived at the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France, with renewed confidence after announcing an agreement aimed at ending hostilities with Iran and reopening the Strait of Hormuz, according to CNN.

The report said the Iran conflict is expected to dominate discussions among G7 leaders, many of whom faced economic pressure from higher energy prices during the prolonged disruption of shipping through the strategic waterway.

Trump is expected to urge allies to help secure and reopen the strait, with Britain and France already expressing support for post-conflict maritime operations.

Other major issues on the agenda include Ukraine, artificial intelligence, supply chain resilience, immigration and economic growth. French President Emmanuel Macron has also invited leaders from Egypt, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates for regional discussions.

Despite the diplomatic gathering, officials reportedly expect few concrete agreements. According to CNN, organizers have abandoned plans for a joint communiqué, highlighting continuing divisions among G7 members on key geopolitical issues.

The summit is widely seen as an opportunity for dialogue rather than major policy breakthroughs, with attention also turning toward the upcoming NATO summit next month.
