German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Germany will supply Ukraine with long-range weapons, but he declined to confirm whether Berlin will send the Taurus cruise missile system long sought by Kyiv.
Speaking alongside Sweden’s prime minister, Merz said Germany has been working “intensively” with Ukraine on long-range fire capabilities and plans to increase support in the coming months, including helping Ukraine produce such systems domestically.

Merz said Berlin will not publicly disclose details to ensure Russia remains uncertain about the scale of Western military aid.
Analysts told the Kyiv Independent that Merz’s remarks likely refer to German-funded Ukrainian weapons programs, not Taurus missiles.

Germany has previously ruled out sending Taurus systems, instead focusing on Patriot air defenses purchased from the U.S.
Ukraine has already received long-range strike capabilities from the U.S., U.K., and France. Germany remains Ukraine’s largest European military donor, committing $10.4 billion in aid this year.
