An American woman living in Germany needs to be rescued, and only President Donald Trump can make that happen. The trial for a 20-year-old American citizen in the stabbing death of her alleged sexual assaulter begins this week.
German authorities arrested a 20-year-old American female after turning herself into police custody for fatally stabbing 64-year-old African migrant Alem Tekeste, who reportedly sexually assaulted the woman at the Kaiserslautern station in southwest Germany in June 2024.
Apparently, the woman was born in Germany but is an American citizen. She reportedly worked as a civilian contractor at the Ramstein Air Base when the attack occurred. Her name will remain anonymous due to her age.
The woman and her alleged perpetrator were leaving the Kaiserslautern station on June 29 when Tekeste grabbed the woman’s butt. She opened a knife she was carrying with her, making it clear that she would defend herself from his attack. Tekeste then grabbed her knife-wielding arm. The woman broke free from his grasp and then stabbed Tekeste in the heart with her knife. He died from his wounds. She turned herself in to authorities but held firm that she did not intend to kill him. She only wanted to keep Tekeste away from her.
The prosecutors in the case said that despite her account of the sexual assault, they do not think her actions were in self-defense. They charged her with causing bodily harm resulting in death, which carries a possible 10-year prison sentence.
In 2023, nine migrants from Afghanistan, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Libya, and Poland were convicted of gang-raping a 15-year-old girl in Hamburg’s city park. A German regional court sentenced only one of the men to prison time. The rest were suspended on probation or preliminary probation.
It’s no wonder she carried a knife with her while traveling alone. Report after report of migrant attacks on women probably raised her fear that it would happen to her. She also likely knew that the government would not do anything to protect her. Nor would they hold the migrant responsible for his attack.
I don’t care about what happens in Europe, quite frankly. It’s easy to see that their citizens have chosen the path of self-destruction by continuing to vote for leaders who allow unchecked migration from the Middle East and Africa. Defending their legacy and homeland is their responsibility, not ours. If they want to have a country where migrants can rape, murder, steal, and pillage without repercussions, then there is little Americans can or should do to stop them.
However, this woman is an American citizen. Trump should step in here to protect her from the unjust prosecution. The U.S. cannot let this woman go to prison for defending herself. Something must be said about the privileges of being an American citizen living abroad. Until recently, you could almost guarantee that the federal government would protect you if anything happened to you, especially in a case like this, which appears to be zealous prosecution against a victim of sexual assault.
Can we really consider ourselves the greatest nation on Earth if we allow a country like Germany to control the fate of our citizens? Allowing her to be hung out to dry by a corrupt country puts American citizens all over the world at risk. Being an American should mean something under the Trump administration.
If nothing else, Trump’s responsibility to protect her will put the rest of the world on notice. If he is serious about “Making America Great Again,” he should send Germany and the rest of the world a message: You won’t be able to take advantage of the U.S. and its citizens on any level anymore.
