Second Lady Usha Vance, wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, is set to visit Greenland this week as part of a U.S. delegation that includes National Security Adviser Mike Waltz and Energy Secretary Chris Wright. The three-day trip, beginning Thursday, will feature visits to historical sites, cultural learning, and the national dog sledge race, Avannaata Qimussersu, according to a statement from the White House.

However, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute B. Egede has criticized the visit, especially Waltz’s participation, calling it an act of power display. Egede voiced concerns that the U.S. may seek to assert dominance over Greenland, particularly given President Donald Trump’s previous comments about annexing the territory, which holds valuable rare earth minerals.
