A 27-year-old man, Ryan Louis Mosqueda, was shot and killed after opening fire outside a U.S. Border Patrol annex in McAllen, Texas, on Monday.
Armed with a rifle and tactical vest, Mosqueda injured two officers and a Border Patrol employee before agents returned fire, according to McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the incident, noting that local police assisted in neutralizing the shooter. Authorities recovered additional weapons and ammunition at the scene. The FBI is leading the ongoing investigation.

Mosqueda reportedly drove to the facility in a white sedan bearing a Latin inscription and was reported missing earlier that morning from nearby Weslaco. His motive remains unclear.
