Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein was sentenced Wednesday to 15 years in prison for the 2006 sexual assault of former production assistant Miriam Haley in New York.
The sentence follows a retrial conviction after his original 2020 conviction was overturned by New York’s highest court in 2024 because the court found that testimony from women whose allegations were not part of the case had prejudiced the trial.
Haley told the court that the assault and the subsequent legal proceedings had profoundly affected her life and sense of security.
Weinstein apologized in court and expressed remorse for Haley’s pain while continuing to maintain his innocence. He is expected to appeal the sentence.
He also remains involved in a separate California case, where he was previously convicted of rape and is awaiting resentencing.
