Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to testify before the House Armed Services Committee later in April as lawmakers press for clarity on the Trump administration’s handling of the Iran war.
According to CBS News, the hearing would mark his first sworn public appearance since the conflict began.
The report said members of Congress from both parties have raised concerns about limited transparency following a recent classified briefing. Lawmakers said they received few details on strategy, troop movements, or long-term objectives.

Committee leaders warned that continued lack of information could affect congressional support. Democrats have formally called for greater accountability, citing unanswered questions on costs, troop safety, and potential escalation.
The hearing comes as the conflict enters its second month with no clear resolution. Officials have expressed confidence in progress, but economic pressures, including rising gas prices, are adding urgency to demands for answers.
