Israeli President Isaac Herzog confirmed Wednesday that he received a letter from President Donald Trump urging him to pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who faces three ongoing corruption trials.
In his letter, Trump called Netanyahu a “formidable and decisive wartime leader” and said the cases against him were “political and unjustified.” Trump praised Netanyahu’s role in recent Middle East peace efforts and said a pardon would help “unite Israel” and end “lawfare.”
