Honda is recalling 406,290 Civic vehicles from model years 2016–2021 due to a defect that could cause the wheels to detach, posing a crash risk.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said certain aluminum wheels may have an incorrect steel bolt seat, allowing lug nuts to loosen over time. Honda expects only a small number of vehicles to need wheel replacements.
Dealers will inspect and repair affected cars free of charge, with owner notification letters going out December 9. Concerned drivers can contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138 for details.
