The chairman of the U.S. House Select Committee on China has called on Monumental Sports & Entertainment owner Ted Leonsis to end all business relationships with Alibaba.

According to the report, Rep. John Moolenaar requested confirmation by July 15 that the company has severed ties with the Chinese technology giant and its affiliates.

The report said the request follows the Pentagon's decision to designate Alibaba as a "Chinese military company," a classification the company is challenging in court.

The designation has intensified congressional scrutiny of Alibaba's business relationships in the United States.
