The House is set to vote Tuesday on a bill requiring the Justice Department to release all unclassified records tied to Jeffrey Epstein, CBS News reported. The push follows months of GOP infighting, stalled floor action and President Donald Trump’s clashes with Republicans who backed the measure.
More than half of all House members signed a discharge petition forcing Speaker Mike Johnson to move the bill forward.
The proposal orders the DOJ, FBI and U.S. attorneys to release investigative files, flight logs, internal communications and records involving Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and any individuals referenced in the cases.
Trump reversed his opposition Sunday, saying Republicans should vote to release the files. He also said he would sign the bill if it reaches his desk.
The bill’s fate in the Senate remains unclear. Some GOP senators argue Democrats are weaponizing the issue to weaken Trump politically. Meanwhile, internal GOP divisions continue as Epstein’s past communications referencing Trump fuel further scrutiny.
