Regulators are examining whether X violated core obligations under the GDPR. The commission said it has been in contact with X for weeks as concerns mounted.
Grok was developed by Musk’s AI company xAI, which acquired X last year and integrated the chatbot into the platform. Under pressure from governments, X recently restricted Grok’s ability to generate explicit images.
Separate investigations are underway in the United Kingdom and France. X has denied wrongdoing. The case highlights growing global concern over AI misuse and online safety.
