How Long Can The Iran War De-Escalation Last

President Donald Trump announced a five-day pause on U.S. strikes targeting Iran’s power and energy infrastructure, citing “productive conversations” with Tehran, according to his social media statement. The report said the pause is conditional on ongoing discussions aimed at reducing hostilities.

However, Iran quickly pushed back. According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, officials denied any negotiations and claimed the U.S. decision came after credible military threats from Tehran. The report said Iran also warned the Strait of Hormuz would not fully return to normal conditions.

The temporary de-escalation follows Trump’s earlier ultimatum demanding Iran reopen the key shipping route. Meanwhile, regional tensions remain high. The Associated Press reported fresh Israeli strikes on Tehran, while Gulf states faced continued threats.

Experts expressed skepticism. Analysts said a lasting resolution within five days is unlikely and that only limited steps, such as easing attacks and partial reopening of shipping routes, may be achieved in the short term.
